Predictable Posterior Composites - Minimizing Sensitivity, Avoiding Failures & Maximizing Longevity

Dr. Natalie Phoon

Overview

Posterior composite restorations are a staple of modern dentistry, but achieving predictable, long-lasting results remains a challenge. This webinar dives into the most common pitfalls in bonding posterior composites, including compromised isolation, postoperative sensitivity, debonding, and technique-driven failures.

We’ll explore the underlying causes, from improper curing and poor bonding management to suboptimal composite handling and finishing, and unpack how each step can make or break your restoration. This session will give you a clear understanding of how to troubleshoot these issues and equip you with practical insights to elevate your posterior composite outcomes.

You will learn:

  • The importance of achieving a good seal with posterior composites
  • How treatment outcomes correlate with patient satisfaction
  • Root causes of posterior composite issues (poor isolation, poor bonding technique, poor management and finishing)
  • Techniques on how to handle each of these issues
  • A workflow run-through to achieve predictability with composites

During her consultations with her patients, she seeks to understand not only the dental health of her patients but also their holistic health and educates patients about how dental and physical health are inherently entertwined. Hence she strongly believes in the importance of and oral health education and focuses on educating her patients and the community about preventative dental care through her practice.

Dr. Phoon is trained in aligner therapy and is an Invisalign Certified Provider as well as a Vincismile Certified Provider. She has also undergone advanced courses run by Osstem AIC to advance her knowledge in implant dentistry to allow her to provide the best for her patients.
